Silver was chosen as the perfect canvas, allowing the artist a variety of hues, contrasts and treatments. The various intricate elements were previously modeled in wax. Those collected from the ground and captured in silicone molds were texturized by reticulation. Three different kinds of finishing enhance the contrast among elements, reminding us of a painting process and not just a piece of jewelry.
Two oxidation processes were achieved with liver of sulfur by masking and insulation techniques, rendering a color palette inspired by nature: gradating between pale yellow, medium ochre, raw amber and hints of a dark cobalt blue. Sandblasting and polishing processes were applied to surround the beauty of the colorized silver. In the artist’s words: “these pieces are a dance among painting, sculpture, jewelry, and the femininity within all.” |
